STA 15+00 · What the work is like
Live roadway
Most of the road crew's work happens on or beside a live roadway, with traffic control up and moving traffic on the other side of a cone line. That means early starts, weather that does not care what the schedule says, and a job site that changes every time the traffic control plan moves. It is outdoor work, all year, and it is not for somebody who wants a fixed indoor shift.
Weekday hours
The office runs Mon-Fri 7am-6pm, sat - sun: closed. Field hours follow the job and the traffic control window a public agency or general contractor sets, which usually means the crew is on site before the office opens and stays until the pour or the day's stretch of work is actually finished, not until a clock says so.

English and Spanish, on every crew
The company works in English and Spanish, and that is true of the crews doing the actual pouring and finishing as much as it is true of the office. Whichever language you are strongest in, you will be working next to people who understand it, on a job site where getting an instruction right the first time is a safety matter, not a convenience.

Positions run from the yard to the paving crew
Between the Austin yard on Nixon Lane and the Aransas Pass yard on Highway 35, the work covers road crew, curb and finish work poured by hand or by machine, equipment operation, and yard work running the scale and the crusher. We do not list specific openings, pay or shift patterns here, because those change with the work on the books. Come in, fill out the application, and an actual person will tell you what is open.
